Be Careful...

So Moses told the people, "You must be careful to obey all the commands of the LORD your God, following his instructions in every detail. Deut. 5:32

This verse has really stuck close the past couple days. This is the memory verse for my Sunday school class this week. It reminds us to be careful...I know I say that exact phrase daily at least ten times to my kids. In looking a little deeper, why do we say that to our children? We say that because we know there is danger and evil in this world and we are wanting our children to stay focused so they don't get hurt. And we do this simply because we love them.

God loves us! So much so that He is reminding us to be careful...obey Him...follow His instructions in every detail. In every detail, other translations say not to turn to the left or the right. Yes, sometimes that seems hard. But let God be your guide today. God knows there is evil and danger out there and wants to be our Protector. He wants to keep us safe.

As for me, I'm gonna be careful to obey the Lord's commands!

Something to think about...

After a convicting message at church yesterday, I came home evaluating where I am in my walk with Christ. A question came up that why is it that we can do so much to help others such as little things like warning others when they need rest or big things like warnings that your house is on fire or the constant reminders to our little ones to be leaders and not followers. We do that because we care about the future for others. We stop and help elderly people with groceries or returning their shopping cart. Yes, I believe those things are important but what about the most important help of all...seeing the lost saved? A good friend and I were discussing why is it so difficult to ask those simple questions like 'Do you know Jesus?' or simple statements like 'Jesus loves you'. Is it that we don't want to get involved or maybe those people that we want to make those statements to have seen the mistakes we have made and are fearful that they will judge us or bring those things to light? I was excited to see over at Women Living Well blog that she had also had this same thing on her heart. I encourage you to check it out. I know God is calling us to keep striving forward and to continue to die to ourselves and to let Him live. Just like Courtney had said, we are selfish people. I am selfish! I do not like to feel uncomfortable or stressed in any way. My flesh loves when life is easy. But my heart, oh my heart, longs to know Him more!

My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20

So I challenge myself and you today to reach out to others in such a way that makes a true difference...their eternity.

Live for today

While taking my morning walk, the Lord really spoke to me through this song. Live for today. Don't think about your past mistakes or even unfinished housework from yesterday. Don't worry about tomorrow. Live for today.

So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today. Matthew 6:34

I'm gonna let my light shine today. Praising Him every step of the way because He is worthy!

Here are the lyrics to Live for Today by Natalie Grant:

Sittin' in my room staring at the wall
Wonderin' about the meaning of it all
Why is it this thing called life
Has got me goin' crazy
So I open up Your Word and let it speak to me
The purpose and the plan that you've designed
Is clear to see, and I believe
[Chorus:]
I'm gonna live for today
I'm gonna follow in your way
I'm gonna let my little light shine
Like there's no tomorrow
I won't worry about the past
I know my future is intact
So I'll choose to live my life one way
I'm gonna live it for today
You told me not to worry
About what lies ahead
So I am gonna focus on today instead
Making every moment count and counting
Every single blessing
I'm gonna set my mind on the
Here and the Now
This is what I want my life to be about
And this is How...
[Repeat Chorus]

Good Morning Girls Book Club

I want to encourage you to click on the Women Living Well button to the right of this post and then click on the Good Morning Girls tab and you will find an awesome tool available to help you learn how to serve God and to honor Him in our day to day lives and to understand more about what this book club is all about. I have absolutely fell in love with Courtney at Women Living Well. She has such a desire and passion to serve God in everything that she does. And that is my passion as well. She blogs about serving her husband and children and so much more! There is a particular book called Ministry of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson that is in the spotlight for the book club right now. Although I am not reading the book, there are a list of different scriptures to read daily that go along with it. Hopefully I will be sharing those with you daily or a couple times a week. (I'm such a bad blogger! But I'm working on it.) Courtney uses a method for Bible study that I really enjoyed that she had learned when she was a child. It seems to be effective and very useful. It's called the S.O.A.P. method.
S- Write out the scripture passage for the day.

O- Write down 1 or 2 observations from the passage.
A- Write down 1-2 applications from the passage.
P- Pray over what you learned from todayʼs passage.

There are also several print outs available so you can make your own notebook for this club. You will find those there on that site as well. Go ahead, check it out. I know you will love it!
Have a blessed day,
Chrisy

God is my Provider

We are rejoicing in our house today! I am just amazed how God's timing is perfect! My husband has been in school for about 2 years after the plant where he had worked shut down. He completed the LPN program a couple weeks ago. He hasn't taken the state board test yet but has been looking for a CNA job until then. Well, today was the day! He has placed about 15 applications and nothing has came from that. While at the park with our boys yesterday, he was talking to a former classmate and someone overheard him talking about how he needed a job. The lady spoke up, who happens to be the Administrator at a local nursing home, and told my husband she needed a CNA and was going to hire some the next day. She gave him her name and number and told him to call her the next day. He finally got in touch with her about 11:30am today and she wanted him to interview at 1pm. By 1:30pm she had hired him...he starts Wednesday! He is so excited and I know that he can finally take a deep breath. He has wanted a job for almost 2 years! During the whole process of losing his job and going back to school, we have had to fully rely on God every step of the way to provide for us. I can proudly say that not one time has our house payment went unpaid or our bellies not been full. I am amazed how God works things out. He is my Provider!

And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. John 10:10
